Creating an electronic book as training and reference material Region Hovedstaden employees

Customer: Region Hovedstaden

Region Hovedstaden (the Capital Region) is one of five administrative units in Denmark. The region provides healthcare, mental healthcare, regional development, and research for 1.6 million people ÔÇô┬áabout 30% of the national population. The region employs 36,000 people, mainly health care professionals,┬ámaking it one of Denmark’s┬álargest employers.

The Challenge

As a part of the transition from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook, Region Hovedstaden needed to provide their employees traning and reference material to facilitate the change to the new user-interface.

The challenge was to deliver the material to all 36,000 employees within a reasonable cost frame. In this situation, conventional classroom teaching would be much too expensive, as would delivering e-learning and printed solutions to all employees.

The Solution

Skills Creator chose to deliver an e-book with an intuitive user-interface and a search function that could be hosted on┬áRegion Hovedstaden’s intranet.

The e-book was designed so it looked and felt like a book (including page curl effects) to differentiate it from other e-learning and  interactive solutions. However, this book had reference hyperlinks, a clickable index register, and a search function.

The Result

The solution divered the familiar ÔÇ£interfaceÔÇØ of a book that was easy for users to navigate. The search function and clickable index made the ÔÇ£bookÔÇØ easy to use for reference purposes and the page-oriented content ensured a sequential learning process for new Outlook users.

Most importantly, Skills Creator delivered┬áthe e-books┬áwithin the project’s┬ábudget!
