“Skills Creator contributed by making sure that everything was accounted for and we fully understood the system and what functionalities we needed before we started the roll out of our Intranet.”
Ecolab is a global leader in cleaning, sanitization, food safety, and infection prevention products and services. It delivers comprehensive programs and services to markets in more than 160 countries, including food services, food and beverage processing, healthcare, and hospitality.
Ecolab decided to use Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) for a Nordic intranet to help unite the organization across countries.
They needed to create a shared vision and determine the framework for the Microsoft SharePoint-based intranet, the functionalities needed for this project, and how SharePoint could be used most efficiently throughout the organization.
Skills Creator hosted a series of seminars introducing SharePoint server possibilities and functionalities for the Ecolab project group and select senior employees. The seminar was divided into three sessions:
- Envision SharePoint:
Laying the project foundation and mapping the way forward.
- Engage SharePoint:
Determining how to deploy MOSS.
- Proposing the SharePoint solution:
Presenting a prioritized proposal on how to deploy MOSS to maximize the business value for Ecolab.
Holding these seminars before rolling out a large SharePoint solution helped Ecolab define the scope of their intranet. In turn, this enabled them to propose a framework for a solution to their technical partners for implementation. The result of this structured preparation was that Ecolab was able to determine their SharePoint needs before starting development, which helped them reduce implementation costs and enhance the project team’s productivity.
